This basket is rustic and beautifully crafted.
Agelgel baskets was a common Ethiopian food basket used as a lunch box, with the outer leather cover helping to keep food warm. Note the leather strap around the top to help keep the lid intact.
Each basket is hand made and unique.
This basket was used, and shows wear. There are a few areas shown in pictures where the basket has holes in the leather. The woven basket part is intact all around and looks great.
There are a couple of spots on the lid but look to be a flaw in the original leather.
Please note to lid is not flush all the way around but fits the top, hence the leather straps to keep closed.
Beautiful piece, measure 10.5’ish wide, and about 5’ tall.
